Bulk URL Shortener

Upload URLs Using Excel or CSV

Import URLs from Excel or CSV files for bulk shortening.

Overview

The Upload URLs Using Excel or CSV feature allows you to shorten thousands of URLs in a single upload instead of adding them one by one. Simply prepare your spreadsheet, upload the file, review the detected URLs, apply your preferred settings, and generate all shortened links at once.

This method is ideal for marketing campaigns, product catalogues, website migrations, affiliate links, and any project involving large collections of URLs.

Good to Know:
SPRL supports CSV, XLS, and XLSX file formats. Each upload can contain up to 10,000 URLs with a maximum file size of 10 MB.

Upload Workflow

Step Description
1. Upload File Select and upload your spreadsheet.
2. Validation SPRL checks the file structure and validates the URLs.
3. Customise Configure options such as the short domain, expiry date, UTM tags, or custom URL slugs.
4. Download Generate and download the completed list of shortened URLs.

Customisation Options

After your file has been successfully validated, you can apply settings to the entire batch before generating the short links.

  • Select a short domain.
  • Configure an expiry date.
  • Add UTM campaign parameters.
  • Assign custom URL slugs where applicable.

Applying these settings during bulk processing ensures consistent configuration across all generated links.

Custom URL Slug Rules

If you choose to create custom URL slugs, they must follow the supported naming rules.

Setting Requirement
Length 6–30 characters
Allowed Characters a-z, A-Z, 0-9, hyphen (-), underscore (_)

After Uploading

Once processing is complete, you can review the generated results before downloading them.

You can then:

  • Download the generated short links.
  • Import the results into other systems.
  • Share links with your team.
  • Monitor link analytics from your dashboard.

Best Practices

  • Use the provided sample file as a template when available.

  • Remove duplicate URLs to avoid unnecessary processing.
  • Use meaningful campaign settings during customisation.
  • Split extremely large datasets into multiple files if required.
  • Download and review the generated results before publishing them.

Troubleshooting

My file won't upload

Verify that your file is in CSV, XLS, or XLSX format and does not exceed the maximum file size of 10 MB.

The upload contains invalid URLs

Ensure each URL is complete, properly formatted, and includes the correct protocol, such as https://.

Some rows were skipped

Rows containing missing or invalid data may not be processed successfully. Review the uploaded spreadsheet, correct any issues, and upload it again.

My file exceeds the upload limit

If your spreadsheet contains more than 10,000 URLs, divide it into multiple files and upload each batch separately.
