Temporary Links

Expire Links by Date & Time

Automatically disable links after a specific date and time.

Overview

One of the most common ways to control a temporary link is by setting an exact expiry date and time. Once the specified date and time is reached, the link automatically becomes unavailable, preventing further access to the destination URL.

This feature is ideal for time-sensitive campaigns, temporary file sharing, event registrations, promotional offers, and confidential information that should only remain available for a limited period.

Good to Know:
You can either select an exact expiry date and time manually or use one of the built-in quick expiry presets such as 1 Hour, 6 Hours, 1 Day, 3 Days, or 7 Days.

How Date & Time Expiry Works

When the configured expiry date and time is reached, SPRL automatically expires the temporary link. Visitors attempting to use the link after that time will no longer be able to access the destination URL.

Best Practices

  • Set the expiry time slightly after your intended availability period.
  • Use quick presets for common expiry durations.
  • Double-check the selected date and time before creating the link.
  • Combine date expiry with password protection for confidential information.
  • Test the temporary link immediately after creating it.
  • Use branded domains for a more professional appearance.

Troubleshooting

The link expired earlier than expected

Check whether another expiry condition, such as maximum clicks or inactivity, was also configured. A temporary link expires as soon as any configured condition is met.

The expiry date cannot be selected

Ensure you are selecting a valid future date and time.

The quick preset selected the wrong expiry

You can manually adjust the expiry date and time after selecting a preset if a different schedule is required.

The link is still active after the expected expiry

Verify that the correct expiry date and time were configured when the temporary link was created.
