Overview

Importing contacts into SPRL allows you to quickly build recipient lists for SMS campaigns. Contacts can be added manually, imported from a CSV file, or organised into Contact Groups for future campaigns.

Using Contact Groups makes it easy to send SMS to the same audience repeatedly without entering mobile numbers each time.

Contact Management Options

Navigate to Dashboard → Contacts to manage your SMS contacts.

Create a Contact Group

Before importing contacts, create a Contact Group to organise your recipients.

1. Navigate to Dashboard → Contacts → Contact Groups.
2. Click New Contact Group.
3. Enter the Group Name.
4. Select the personalization fields you want to store.
5. Add any remarks if required.
6. Click Add Group.

Available Personalization Fields

These fields can be stored for each contact and later used for SMS personalization.

Import Contacts Using CSV

1. Click Import Contacts.
2. Select the Contact Group.
3. Choose your CSV file.
4. Click Upload Contact.
5. The contacts will be added to the selected group.

A formatted CSV sample can be downloaded directly from the import screen.

CSV Requirements

Add Contacts Manually

If you only have a few recipients, you can add them manually.

1. Click Add Contacts.
2. Select the Contact Group.
3. Enter one or more mobile numbers separated by commas.
4. Click Add Contact.

Import Contacts Using Your API

Instead of uploading a CSV file, SPRL can retrieve contacts from your own API endpoint.

Your API response should return contact numbers in the expected format before validating the connection.

Each Contact Group includes additional management options.

Best Practices

• Create separate Contact Groups for different customer segments.
• Use personalization fields whenever available.
• Download and use the formatted CSV template before importing contacts.
• Verify that mobile numbers contain valid 10-digit Indian numbers.
• Keep Contact Groups updated by removing outdated or invalid contacts.
• Test imports using a small CSV file before importing large contact lists.

Troubleshooting

My CSV file cannot be uploaded

Ensure the file is in CSV format, does not exceed 5 MB, and contains no more than 50,000 records.

Some contacts were not imported

Verify that every Contact-No contains a valid 10-digit Indian mobile number.

I cannot find my Contact Group

Create a Contact Group before importing contacts or adding recipients manually.

My API connection is not working

Verify the Request URL, request method, parameters, and ensure the API returns contact numbers in the expected format.
